CardioDreams performs 4 to 6 humanitarian heart operations a year, thanks to the collaboration of the CM Teknon of the quirónsalud group, our surgical team, companies from the cardiovascular sector, friends and supporters.
On 18 April 2016 we performed the first humanitarian heart operation on Tsering Buthi, a 38-year-old Tibetan woman with a 16-year-old son, who was suffering from a heart valve complaint of rheumatic origin and who required an urgent operation.
CardioDreams discovered her case through Migranodearena. With the support of La Casa del Tibet, several companies from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector and friends of the foundation, we successfully operated on her in Barcelona.
On 7 February 2017, Dr. Ruyra’s team successfully operated on Magdalena in the Centro Médico Teknon to replace the mitral valve that she needed due to her disease.
Magdalena, 34 years old and originally from Nicaragua, did not have the resources to pay for her operation and the CardioDreams Foundation, as part of its healthcare programme, was able to operate on the severe mitral valve insufficiency from which she was suffering.
Both the surgical team of CardioDreams Foundation, formed by qualified cardiovascular disease professionals from several Barcelona hospitals with experience in over 8,000 cardiac surgeries, and the centre where the operations are performed, the CM Teknon of the quirónsalud group, guarantee excellence and innovation in each of the operations.
